<Background and Purpose>
To assess the causes and developments in the war in Ukraine, and
analyze its impact on global and regional security dynamics as well as
the Korean Peninsula
◎ To identify root causes of the crisis in Ukraine and understand the current state
of the conflict
- To explore the source of the conflict on different levels - global, national, and
personal.
- To make a strategic understanding on the implications of the Ukraine crisis by
assessing the current state of the war from the operational perspective
◎ To assess the impact of the Ukraine crisis on global security dynamics as well
as the East Asian region including the Korean Peninsula, and shape the ROK's
counter-strategies
- The impact of the war in Ukraine is examined from three aspects: the changes
in global security environment; the intensification of structural conflicts in
Northeast Asia; the acceleration of emerging security crises

NATO, etc) and the authoritarian powers(Russia, China, etc); reinforcement of
trilateral ties among the US-ROK-Japan as well as North Korea-China-Russia;
intensification of unconventional security threats such as economic and food

Moscow while maintaining strategic communication with Russia for the stable
management the bilateral relations; Enhance viability of the extended
deterrence, and foster independent and substantial response capabilities against
North Korean nuclear and missile threats at the earliest stage possible; Identify
lessons from the Ukrainian war as to various components of combat
development required for the future warfare, which must be carried out
